CSV to JSON and JSON to CSV

Quoted fields, line breaks inside cells, semicolon CSV from Excel and JSON Lines are handled.

    CSV options

Runs entirely in your browser. Your data, files and text are never uploaded.

    How to use the converters

    1. Pick a converter from the tabs: CSV ↔ JSON, Base64, Color, Number base, Text case, URL encode or Timestamp.
    2. Paste or type your input, or open a file for CSV, JSON and Base64. The result updates as you type.
    3. Adjust the options if needed, such as the CSV delimiter, URL-safe Base64 or the timestamp unit.
    4. Copy the result to your clipboard or download it as a file.

    What each converter does

    • CSV to JSON and back

Turns spreadsheet exports into JSON objects or arrays and JSON lists back into CSV. Detects comma, semicolon, tab and pipe delimiters, handles quoted cells with line breaks, and reads European decimal commas.

    • Base64 encode and decode

Encodes text as UTF-8, so accents and emoji survive. Turns any file into Base64 or a data URL, and turns Base64 back into a downloadable file with its type detected.

    • HEX, RGB and HSL colors

Converts between HEX (3, 4, 6 or 8 digits), RGB(A) and HSL(A), with a color picker, opacity and the WCAG contrast ratio against white and black.

    • Number bases

Converts whole numbers between binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal with arbitrary precision, including negative numbers and their two’s complement.

    • Text case

UPPER, lower, Title and Sentence case for prose, plus camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case and CONSTANT_CASE for code, without losing accented letters.

    • URL encoding and timestamps

Percent-encodes or decodes a query value or a full URL and explains malformed input. Converts Unix seconds or milliseconds to ISO 8601 dates in UTC and your time zone, and back.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is Zebra Convert free?

Yes. Every converter is free, with no sign-up, no limits on how often you use it and no watermark on downloads.

    Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. All conversions run in your browser with JavaScript. Your CSV files, JSON, text and files are never sent to a server.

How do I convert a semicolon CSV from Excel?

Paste the data or open the file. Auto-detect recognizes semicolons, and numbers with a decimal comma such as 1,50 become 1.5 in the JSON. You can also choose the delimiter yourself.

Why do accented letters look wrong when I open the CSV in Excel?

Excel needs a byte order mark (BOM) to recognize UTF-8. Keep “Add a UTF-8 BOM” switched on before downloading, and letters such as č, ö or ß will display correctly.

What happens to nested objects when converting JSON to CSV?

By default nested objects and arrays are written into the cell as JSON text. Switch on “Flatten nested objects” to get separate columns such as address.city instead.

    Is Base64 encryption?

No. Base64 is only an encoding that turns bytes into plain text. Anyone can decode it, so never use it to protect passwords or private data.

How do I know if a timestamp is in seconds or milliseconds?

Current timestamps in seconds have 10 digits, while milliseconds have 13. Zebra Convert detects this automatically, and you can override the unit when needed.

    Is there a size limit?

Inputs and files of up to 5 MB are supported, which covers tens of thousands of CSV rows. Larger data is better handled by a desktop tool or a script.
