What works in your browser

Everything runs on your device, so what you can create depends on the browser. The last column is checked live in the browser you are using now and always wins over the table.

Instant copies work in every browser. Without WebCodecs (older browsers) re-encoding is not available, but MP3 and WAV files can still be made.

How to convert video and audio

  1. Choose videos or audio files, drop them anywhere on the page, or paste a direct link to a media file.
  2. Pick the format to convert to: MP4, MOV, WebM or GIF for video, or MP3, M4A, WAV or Opus for sound.
  3. Check the plan shown for each file. Videos are copied without re-encoding whenever the format allows it, which takes seconds and keeps the quality.
  4. Press Convert, then download each file, or all of them at once as a ZIP file.

Why this converter is different

  • Copies instead of re-encoding

Most phone, camera and OBS videos hold H.264 video and AAC sound that MP4 and MOV can take as they are. Only the container is rewritten, so a two-hour recording is ready in moments and the picture is the original.

  • Your files stay with you

There is no upload and no server queue: the page reads each file from your disk in pieces and builds the result in memory. That is faster for big files, and nothing private leaves your computer or phone.

  • It tells you before it starts

Every file shows what will happen – an instant copy, a re-encode with the expected time, or why this browser cannot do it and a one-tap fix such as converting without sound or picking another format.

Frequently asked questions

Is the converter free, and are my files uploaded?

It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. Your files are read and converted by your own browser and are never uploaded to ZEBRA or any other server.

Will I lose quality?

Not when the video can be copied: changing MOV to MP4 or MKV to MP4 usually keeps the original video and sound exactly. When a re-encode is needed, "Same quality" keeps the picture close to the original.

How long does it take?

Copies take seconds, even for long videos. Re-encoding depends on your device: a computer usually converts faster than real time, a phone about as fast as the video plays.

Which browsers work?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers and phones. The table above shows what your browser can do; older browsers can still make instant copies and MP3 or WAV files.

Can I paste a YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Facebook link?

No. Zebra Convert only opens direct links to media files on sites that allow it. To convert a video from those services, save it with their own download feature first, then add the file here.

What happens to quality

Whenever the format allows it, Zebra Convert copies the video instead of re-encoding it. Changing a MOV into an MP4, an MKV into an MP4 or an MP4 into a MOV usually keeps the original frames and sound untouched, so nothing is lost and the job takes seconds.

When a re-encode is needed – a WebM for an iPhone, a GIF, an MP3 – the Quality control decides the trade-off. Same quality keeps the picture visually unchanged, Balanced saves around a third of the size, and Smaller file is meant for sharing over slow connections. Videos are never enlarged beyond their original resolution.
